As an electrical engineer with over 25 years’ experience in the utility sector, Russell has significant experience in strategy, management, risk and operations with extensive knowledge of asset management, performance improvement and engineering. Prior to joining the Top Energy Group in 2008, Russell was General Manager for Operations at WEL Networks where he led WEL’s Asset Management, Procurement and Field Services groups of over 150 staff. Prior to this Russell was a partner with UMS Group, a global utility management consulting group. Russell is a Chartered Electrical Engineer, has an honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, an MSc in Engineering Business Management and is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology and Engineering NZ. He is also a member of the NZ Institute of Directors.
Ray Robinson

Ray Robinson

General Manager
Ray Robinson is the General Manager of Ngāwhā Generation Ltd, part of the Top Energy Group. He joined Top Energy in 2009 and is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Ngāwhā Geothermal Power Station. Ray trained in the Royal Naval School of Marine Engineering and at City University, London where he gained an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering. Previous roles include serving in the Royal Navy Submarine Service and later moving on to work in various areas of the commercial power generation industry. His professional registration includes membership of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Society of Operations Engineers, and Institute of Plant Engineers. Ray is also a Chartered Member of Engineering New Zealand (Engineering Technologist).
Fabian Hanik

Fabian Hanik

Assistant Plant Manager
Fabian Hanik, Assistant Plant Manager of Ngāwhā Generation Ltd, part of the Top Energy Group, joined Top Energy in 2019. Fabian grew up in Kerikeri and attended Kerikeri High school, after which he gained a Bachelor of Engineering- Mechanical (1st Class Hons) at The University of Auckland. As part of attaining this qualification, he completed a summer internship at Ngawha, which got him hooked on all things Geothermal. He developed his career working in a team responsible for over 400MWe of geothermal generation in Taupo, starting off as a Graduate Geothermal Resources Engineer and progressively working to the role of Drilling and Projects Engineer over an eight year period, before returning home to Kerikeri. Fabian has a passion for continuous improvement, Lean-Six-Sigma and problem solving.
